The book: What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami

The memory:

How come it took me all semester, at the poking and prodding of my teacher, to produce the first drawing with coloring I’ve done since middle school?

Again, I can’t stress enough how much it is about the small victories. Call me redundant, or a broken record, but without feeling some sort of accomplishment, no matter how inconsequential or personal in the long run, you really can’t make it through each day.

The days are long and hard for so many reasons, and if completing a cartoon makes the days just a little bit easier, then, damnit, I’ll take it.
